The Use of the Website

The website, thelanguageofconscience.com, will provide an opportunity for many people to give their ideas to better refine a process that uses these general concepts and helps bring the type of enlightenment and balance of thought that needs to be injected into thoughtful consideration.

History is filled with seemingly unimportant items of great impact. The Comanche dominated Texas against all others for centuries because of their fierce nature and horsemanship which gave them mobility. The Texas Rangers finally matched them in ability but could not dominate until they found the perfect weapon in the Colt repeating pistol, which had been rejected by most military at the time. Several pistols per Ranger changed the dynamics of close fighting.

Attila had dominated the Romans in part because he had been sent as a child to the Roman Court of Honorius upon his Father's death and, therefore, had the advantage of understanding them and their tactics. However, when he met the Romans under Aetius near Chalons, he lost badly. Aeitus had been the Roman sent in exchange to learn from the Huns as a boy and understood them, an unanticipated dynamic at the time.

Technology combined with knowledge often surprises expected winners. Perhaps the best example might be the critical battle of Vienna, which stopped the Ottoman Turks from entering Europe. One has to wonder how the Turkish cavalry felt as it lined up opposite the Polish Husaria, their heavy cavalry. They dressed uniquely with tall wings with many feathers fastened to the saddlebacks or backplate with an animal skin draped over their armor. This was a most distinct look for the time, which probably caused some amusement. But when they charged, the feathers blew wide in the wind and created a sound that gradually built into one resembling a freight train. The opposing men did not fear them, but the horses they rode did. The horses faced thousands of birds of prey descending upon them with a horrible sound, and they did not wish to charge into such an image. This created a significant disadvantage for the Turks.

Again, technology combined with knowledge often surprises expected winners. The point of these observations is simply that the internet is greatly under appreciated for what it can do to distribute and refine ideas. Our era of time can be spent seeking physical entertainment of ever more base content and violence that follows the circuses of Rome or we can value thought and a quest for excellence. At one time that was more of an individual effort because a few broadcast media dominated thought. Now each individual has a chance to spend his or her time in ways that they choose. But if they want to be a small part of the conscience of man and broaden it, they have a vehicle to do it as never before. The powers that be in all societies underestimate the power of ideas. But the shaping of ideas, the motivation of ideas, and the ultimate power of ideas come from working with others so efforts can be leveraged. Neils Bohr, the great physicist, made the "Copenhagen Observation” that each man's mind is but a model of the world based on his personal knowledge and experience. If you combine a number of minds you have a model that better approximates the reality of the world. Similarly, the thoughts above are only an approach to generating thought, and each person or group may well incorporate it to their own circumstances.
